About The Event
Shooters of all levels are invited: Gentleman welcome, Women and Youth Encouraged!
Youth (10 years or older), women, and men are invited to participate in a weekend long wingshooting clinic on April 21 – 23, 2023 Halter Shooting Sports Education Center in Hillsdale, MI.
The clinic is hosted by HerUpland and The Ruffed Grouse Society/American Woodcock Society.
Check-in will begin on Friday, April 21 at 5pm at Hillsdale Brewing Co. The clinic will begin at 8:00am Saturday morning and end 5pm Sunday afternoon. Instruction during the wingshooting clinic will be provided by National Sporting Clays Association certified instructors. Participants will learn to safely handle and fire a shotgun, as well as practice the fundamentals of wingshooting.
Each participant will have eight hours of shooting instruction (4 hours each day) in groups no larger than four. Eight hours of skills seminars and demonstrations will be provided both days when you’re not shooting, these will include: shotgun patterning, navigation, bird dog demonstrations, basics of upland hunting in Michigan, local habitat observation and identification, gamebird cooking
Registration is $250 per participant, 4 youth scholarships available

Nearest Airports:
The Halter Shooting Center is located in southern-central Michigan. If you are traveling by plane, the nearest major airports are Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW), Toledo Express Airport (TOL), and Chicago O’Hare / Midway Airports (ORD / MDW).
From DTW:
Halter Shooting Center is 90 miles west of Detroit.
From TOL:
Halter Shooting Center is 70 miles northwest of Toledo.
From ORD:
Halter Shooting Center is 200 miles east of Chicago.
Transportation:
We are not able to provide transportation to facilities, however, we can try to help coordinate between those flying in and out for the event.

Hotel: Dow Hotel and Conference Center (5 miles from shooting facility)
We have 20 rooms booked with a group rate of $150/night

Flying in for the weekend? Don’t own your own shotgun? Not to worry! There will be plenty of 12 and 20 gauge shot guns available for use.
